If Berlin is bold and chaotic, Dresden is its polished, overachieving sibling who took one art history class and never let it go. Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical—you name it, Dresden said yes to all of it. This gallery highlights Dresden’s architectural masterpieces and historic landmarks.
After being leveled in WWII and then painstakingly rebuilt, the Frauenkirche now stands like a phoenix made of sandstone and divine light. Step inside and prepare to have your jaw unhinged—seriously, the dome is doing most of the heavy lifting, and I respect that.
Not to be outdone is the Katholische Hofkirche (Dresden Cathedral), which goes full drama at sunset like it knows it’s being photographed. Then there’s the Procession of Princes, a mural made entirely of porcelain tiles, because apparently painting just wasn’t enough. And finally, we land on Brühl’s Terrace—known as “the Balcony of Europe,” which is not even remotely an exaggeration.
Whether you’re into German architecture, building a Dresden travel itinerary, or just here for the most Instagrammable places in Dresden, this gallery is the beginning of a deep dive into one of Germany’s most photogenic cities. More photos are coming soon—because Dresden really doesn’t do subtle.
I wouldn't be doing justice to Dresden by only highlighting the architecture, but that's almost enough of a draw in itself. The Zwinger Palace is enormously grand, while the artistic flair of Kunsthofpassage adds even more subtext to the metaphorical travel onion. As you keep peeling back the layers, you'll always find something new.
